The Artists who create and Collectors who invest in plein-air paintings.
Top five reasons artists paint en plein air
There are hundreds of reasons why artists paint on location. These five are what I have discovered are among the top of the heap:
- To paint directly from life rather rather than using other means.
- To interpret, not copy nature, architecture, people in their own way.
- To experience the freshness and elements of being out-of-doors.
- To paint in their back yard or across the globe in discovery of new colors, shapes, venues.
- To strengthen, study and prepare for larger works in their studios.
